My great love of Gardens Oval was developed during a game of cricket at this picturesque setting in the early 90s when I captained a NT Taverners side against the Administrator’s X1 captained by the wonderful cricket supporter and Territorian Austin Asche AC QC. Two of my sons played in that game as well.

 

Living in Myilly Point I was a frequent visitor to Gardens Oval and soon became a devoted Tahs supporter and sponsor. I was therefore very humble and privileged when I was asked to be Patron of Waratah Cricket Club in 2014.

 

I am sure that our new players, their families our sponsors and supporters will soon come to love this wonderful cricket setting as I have. They, like my family, will be impressed with Tahs as an inclusive and family focussed Club upholding the great spirit of cricket. I also acknowledge the large group of players supporters and sponsors from the Darwin Sri-Lankan community who have enriched our Club both on and off the field.
