Established in 1957, the Waratah Cricket Club is a founding club of the Darwin & District Cricket Competition, with a long and proud history. The Waratah Warriors is a family club that welcomes all members of the community, from beginners to first-class players, who wish to play cricket.
Our home ground is the iconic Gardens Oval, nestled in between Mindil Beach and Darwin’s Botanic Gardens. Located less than 1km from Darwin’s CBD, it is the only ground in Darwin outside Marrara to have hosted international cricket.
We field teams in the Junior, Senior Men and Women’s competitions, as well as host the Woolworths Blaster program for kids aged 5-10yo. We are fortunate to have a strong hand of Cricket Australia accredited coaches, and in 2021, a major focus of the club will be the development of our Junior program.
Over the past 12 months, the Club has experienced significant growth in playing numbers and has returned to its place as a powerhouse of the Darwin & District Cricket Competition (DDCC).
In Season 2020, the Waratah Warriors were successful in winning the Premier Grade Premiership, CDU Top End T20, Women’s Premier Grade Premiership and the B Grade Premiership. In addition, the E Grade Grand Final was a battle between the two Waratah teams.
In Season 2021, Waratah Warriors expects to field a minimum of 12 teams across the club in the Junior, Senior Men, Women and Junior competitions.
We hope you will be a part of the Waratah Warriors in 2021.
